About the Meeting



Mark your calendars now for the world's largest, most prominent meeting on diabetes? The American Diabetes Association's 79th Scientific Sessions. This year's meeting will be held June 7-11, 2019, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

The Scientific Sessions offers researchers and health care professionals an amazing opportunity to share ideas and learn about the significant advances in diabetes research, treatment, and care. Over the course of five days, attendees will receive exclusive access to more than 2,800 original research presentations, take part in provocative and engaging exchanges with leading diabetes experts, and expand professional networks with colleagues from around the world.

 The program begins on Friday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m., and concludes on Tuesday, June 11 at 11:45 a.m.

Target Audience

     The Scientific Sessions offers researchers and health care professionals an amazing opportunity to share ideas and learn about the significant advances in diabetes research, treatment, and care. Over the course of five days, attendees will receive exclusive access to more than 2,800 original research presentations, take part in provocative and engaging exchanges with leading diabetes experts, and expand professional networks with colleagues from around the world.

    The Exhibit Hall is a vital part of the Scientific Sessions educational experience. It showcases products and services that will enhance your understanding of the latest ground-breaking technology and resources available today. Visit the Exhibit Hall to also attend our interactive ePoster Theater Sessions. 

    Note: Children under the age of 18 will not be allowed admittance to the Exhibit Hall.

    General Poster Sessions: General Poster Sessions include accepted abstracts not selected for oral presentation or as published only. Poster presenters will be available to discuss their research on an assigned day during one of three general poster sessions. These sessions will take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in the Poster Hall.


    Moderated Poster Discussions: These one-hour discussions will allow attendees to "listen-in” as moderators share their perspectives & highlight novel or recent advancements in 6-7-minute question & answer discussions with poster presenters. Select posters from all abstract categories will be included. These discussions will take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in the Poster Hall.


    ePoster Theaters: Due to the popularity of the Moderated Poster Discussions, select sessions will be presented in ePoster Theaters using electronic posters. The ePoster Theaters accommodate larger crowds for a more comfortable learning experience. ePoster Theaters will take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in the Exhibit Hall.


    Interactive Online Posters (ePosters): Each poster will have a corresponding barcode on its board. Scan the barcode with your smartphone, tablet, or handheld device to access an electronic version of the poster, corresponding abstract, and audio commentary by the presenter (if provided). Computer kiosks will also be located within the Poster Hall for electronic poster viewing.


    Poster Hall Organization: The Scientific Sessions program is categorized into eight theme areas. Abstract submission categories fall under one of the eight categories. The Poster Hall is organized alphabetically, first by the theme area and then by abstract submission category. Posters included in Moderated Poster Discussions or ePoster Theaters are the first posters in each category.


    Note: Children under the age of 18 will not be allowed admittance to the Poster Hall.

    CORPORATE SYMPOSIA



    Corporate Symposia are satellite programs that are planned and conducted by the corporate community in conjunction with Scientific Sessions. They provide attendees with additional education and information opportunities. They will be held at the InterContinental San Francisco and the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. Please note that Corporate Symposia are not part of the official ADA Scientific Sessions program and that program content and continuing education credit (if applicable) are sole responsibility of the corporate supporters.



    PRODUCT THEATERS



    Industry experts will provide insight into diabetes services and products and demonstrate innovative equipment. Product Theaters will be scheduled during morning, lunch, and afternoon breaks in the Exhibit Hall on

    Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.



    SPECIAL EVENTS



    Networking Reception—Friday, June 7 (6:30 pm – 8:30 pm)

    Get the opportunity to meet and network with your colleagues from across the country or around the world during our Networking Reception. Join us Friday evening at the Moscone Center (West Building). This is a great opportunity to renew connections with friends and colleagues or make new ones. Light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.

    5K@ADA—Sunday, June 9 (6:30 am – 7:15 am)

    Join us for the 5K@ADA Fun Run/Walk on Sunday morning. This fun event gives you the opportunity to raise public awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

    Registration opens at 6:00 am and the warm up begins at 6:15 am The race will begin promptly at 6:30 am

    Limited shuttle bus service will be provided for the event.

    Want to race in style sporting a 5K@ADA running shirt? Shirts are available for purchase when you register for the meeting for $20.

    Support the American Diabetes Association by Wearing Red—Sunday, June 9

    Wear red on Sunday to show your support of the ADA and our mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Red merchandise is available for purchase in advance from shopdiabetes.org or onsite at the Shop Diabetes Store. Every purchase supports diabetes research, advocacy, awareness, and education programs.
